I Eat Chocolate Almost Every Day

I’ve had a lot of people tell me they could never eat like me… that they couldn’t eat clean and healthy every single day. But the truth is, I eat a lot of really amazing food. But most importantly. I eat chocolate almost every day. Why is that important? Because it’s what I LOVE. I crave chocolate so there is no way you could ever ask me to give it up. I just eat a healthier form of chocolate than I once did.

You can check out my sweets recipe page here and see how chocolate dominates the page. I don’t make many desserts that don’t include chocolate. While I save the super sweet chocolate for special occasions, I do eat some sort of healthy chocolate most days.

My 2 favorite almost daily treats are:

chocolate protein bars

cut brownies

and

chocolate avocado pudding

pudding

I know that these “treats” are not as sweet as DQ ice cream or a Snickers bar but my taste buds have changed since giving up processed sugar and these treats are just sweet enough to satisfy my chocolate sweet tooth.

On workout days I often eat my chocolate protein bars following a workout.

On non workout days I often eat my chocolate pudding as an afternoon treat while the kiddos have quiet time.

On Sunday nights or holidays, I may have a slightly sweeter chocolate treat (like these chocolate almond joy bites or my favorite peanut butter brownie bars-that I now make with almond butter instead).

Usually my “Sunday night time dessert” consists of some plain full fat organic Greek Yogurt with a scoop (or 2) of homemade almond butter and some homemade chocolate chunks or frozen raspberries. Good stuff. That’s my “desert”. I often add a couple drops of stevia and some vanilla extract to my Greek Yogurt if plain yogurt to sweeten it up a bit and add a little vanilla flavor. If you read the labels on sweetened yogurt it’s usually packed with unhealthy sugars or other zero calorie sweeteners, so I prefer to sweeten my own. A smidge of raw honey is also perfect. It doesn’t take much honey to do the trick.

Eating healthy and clean doesn’t have to mean deprivation or eating tasteless food. I use plenty of spices and flavor in my cooking and like I said before I still enjoy chocolate. I couldn’t eat healthy every day if that meant boiled chicken and steamed broccoli. Are you bored with your veggies? Try roasting them in some coconut oil with sea salt and pepper. You would be surprised at the difference this makes. My kids will eat most any vegetable if roasted.

To me, eating clean and healthy food is just eating real food from simple ingredients with names I can pronounce.

Thanks! I really enjoy food and never want to feel like I’m restricting myself. Food was meant to be enjoyed and just because I don’t eat potatoes fried in vegetable oil doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy good food. 🙂

[…] Dark chocolate has been toted as a health food for a while now, due to it being rich in antioxidants. There are also studies linking it to better heart health and it has been said that it’s a “mood booster”. No study needed for that, chocolate definitely boosts my mood. I personally love dark chocolate, and previously wrote a blog post about how I eat chocolate almost most every day. […]
