Better Food Coloring
Did you know….
Those food colors by McCormick and Betty Crocker are made with artificial food dyes made from petroleum (Red 40, Yellow 5, Blue 1). These are linked to several health issues, including allergies and hyperactivity in children. Dyes have also been found to be contaminated with carcinogens. For Easter I have tried different options like tumeric and spirulina to color eggs. It went… okay.
Well, I recently found this all natural coloring from vegetables that I used to make some fat bombs for the kiddos and myself on St. Patrick’s Day. It worked SO well, and didn’t change the flavor of our treats.
This natural food coloring comes in primary colors (red, yellow, and blue) so you can blend them to make other colors. I also saw that they had orange. I’m excited to use these in other baking throughout the year! The kiddos birthdays are in August and I plan to blend more colors so I can go crazy with the homemade cakes!
Have you tried any of these or other natural food coloring? If so, let me know about your experience in the comment section below.
