Diffusing Essential Oils
Diffusing Essential Oils
There are 3 main benefits to diffusing essential oils:
- They smell good! Diffusing essential oils can stimulate and bring mental clarity or calm after a stressful day. Lavender, Orange, Cedarwood, and Balance are fantastic choices. Different smells are connected to emotions. Essential oils are a fantastic way to change a frantic emotional state to relaxation and calm or even attention and clarity (depending on the oil).
- Some diffusers and oils generate negative ions. Positive ions are produced by electronic equipment and are found in man-made environments. Air conditioning depletes the atmosphere of negative ions. Positive ions can help stimulate the sympathetic nervous system, necessary for recovering, strengthening, and energizing. However, an overabundance of positive ions can contribute to stress and agitation. Negative ions are produced by the ocean, forests, salt lamps, and certain essential oils (lemon, lavender, and orange are a couple of inexpensive examples). When these oils are diffused they can create negative ions which can enhance ones feeling of well being (just like that feeling of being at the beach).
- Increased Oxygen! When essential oils are pure and undiluted (like the oils at Rocky Mountain Oils), the oil is a highly oxygenized hydrocarbons chain. They are being broken apart when diffused and oxygen is then released into the air. The aromas are purifying and uplifting the environment- physically, chemically, and emotionally. Just like a plant that increases oxygen in your home, essential oils can have that same effect when they are diffused.
