HIIT: Lower Body and Abdominal At Home Workout
I was going a little stir crazy today and so were the kiddos. We all needed a quick break from our homeschool activities so we had “gym class” and I got in a quick HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) workout today.
Here are the kiddos doing squats (we will have to focus a bit on form another day) 😉
I chose to do a circuit so that I could get a lower body and abdominal workout and a little cardio as well.
The kiddos jumped around doing the workout with me, pretending to do half the exercises, and mading up some of their own while I did a my routine and cheered them on. They also helped me count to keep me on track.
Here is the workout:
- 15 jump scissor lunges
- 25 exercise ball crunches (you can do regular floor crunches if you don’t own an exercise ball *)
- 15 jump squats
- 15 burpies
- Run in place 30 seconds
- Spiderman plank (10 each side)
- 12 jackknife sit ups
- 15 butt lifts
Rest 1-3 minutes.
Repeat 2-4 more times depending on your fitness level.
I included some links to videos (just click on the exercise) in case you don’t know what some of the exercises are.
I worked up a sweat and the kids got out some of their energy as well. I still plan to hit the squat rack and do my full leg workout on Saturday but this was a nice way to get moving on a cold winter day.
Here are some more pictures of the kids getting in on the workout fun…
I’m not sure what they are doing here but they are having a lot of fun.

Jump squats!
All tuckered out…
So there you have it! A great fat burning leg and abdominal workout for me and a fun homeschool break for the kids.
