Dairy Free Garlic Parmesan Banana Chips

Talk about comfort food! If you are a salty snacker, these dairy free garlic parmesan banana chips are where it’s at. The nutritional yeast and apple cider vinegar mix give it a parmesan like flavor. Don’t knock them till you try them. My daughter was totally grossed out by my ingredients list but after tasting them she begged me for more. These were the perfect snack today for the kiddos after they had shoveled and then played in the snow for hours upon hours.

I bought the plain banana chips from our local health food store. They are quite bland on their own. I often toss them in coconut oil, sprinkle them with sea salt and pop them in the oven to get them nice and toasty. Today I wanted to switch it up a bit and give them more flavor and this is how I made my garlic parmesan banana chips.

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a medium size bowl mix the unsweetened banana chips with 2 TBS melted coconut. I use my hands to get them nice and coated all over.
  3. Add 1 TBS organic apple cider vinegar and mix into the banana chips.
  4. Add all your other seasonings (2 TBS nutritional yeast, 1 tsp sea salt, 1/4 tsp garlic powder, 1/16 tsp onion powder, 1/4 tsp basil, 1/4 tsp oregano, 1/16 tsp crushed rosemary and a sprinkle of black pepper).
  5. Mix until your banana chips are evenly coated with all the seasonings.
  6. Spread evenly on a baking sheet.
  7. Sprinkle more sea salt over the top and pop them in the oven for 10 minutes.
  8. After 10 minutes take them out and toss them with a spatula.
  9. Cook for an additional 5 minutes (or until golden brown). You don’t want to burn them but the brown ones are extra crispy and yummy.

Caution: Allow to cool a bit before eating as they will be VERY hot straight out of the oven.

Enjoy!

Store leftovers in an air tight container in the fridge.

There you have it, a salty snack that isn’t highly processed or made with ingredients you may or may not know how to pronounce.

That’s hard to say as we usually gobble it up in a few days. If you store it in an air tight container in the fridge maybe a week?

I wish I could tell you but we usually gobble them up within the week. So in the fridge I would think at least a week. 😉
